This Privacy Policy is designed to help you better understand how we gather, use, share and store information, and discloses the privacy practices for the Social Enterprise Institute (‘SEI’) with regards to past, current and incoming users. For purposes of this Privacy Policy, any use of socialenterpriseinstitute.ca or socialenterpriseinstitute.co (‘the Site’), discussion forums and all content, information and services hosted on the Site, and enrollment in the SEI Courses, are collectively called the “Services.”
Please note that this Privacy Policy applies only to SEI Services and not necessarily to other third-party companies, websites, or platforms.
SEI is operated in support of its mission to educate and to disseminate knowledge and information for social impact and innovation entrepreneurs.
To provide you the Services of SEI, we may collect and store information that you disclose to us with your consent. For example, we collect information from you when you sign up for our e-mail list or participate in our online courses; and when you contact us by email, over the telephone or in-person, or in response to a survey or promotion. The information we collect may include, but is not limited to, your name, age, contact information such as telephone number, mailing address, nationality, and email address, payment information, employment and education information, and learning preferences.
When you disclose to us any personal information, we collect details on when consent was given, and to which uses of you’re data we’re permitted
We will only retain your personal data for as long as needed for the purposes set out in this document, and/or required by law.
In general, this means that we will only hold your personal data for a minimum of 1 year and a maximum of 5 years.
SEI Privacy Policy offers end-to-end lifecycle protection of your information, by engaging in proper data minimization, retention and deletion processes.
When your subscription to SEI courses end, or after a maximum of 5 years of storing your information, whichever occurs first, SEI will notify you that your consent is nearing expiration, and will send you a series of communications to renew your consent. If you don’t re-opt in within the requested time frame, SEI will unsubscribe or delete your personal data.
SEI deletes the data of users who have closed their accounts.
Cookies are small files that are stored on your computer. Cookies allow websites to remember information about a user, such as a user’s preferences when visiting the website.
We use cookies to understand and save your preferences and compile aggregate data about site traffic and interactions to improve your future user experiences. As with most websites, SEI, by itself and through third-party services, uses cookies to evaluate use of this website and improve services. Since the cookie policies of third-party sites change over time, you should determine their policies by visiting the privacy policy pages of these sites directly.
You may disable Google Analytics cookies through your individual browser options.
Your information may be shared with third-party partners only to the extent necessary to enhance the SEI user experience. Please see Annex 1 for details.
Third parties access to information is limited to their specific purpose of use. They are prohibited from using or sharing your information for any purpose other than providing the outlined services to SEI and the Site.
We do not sell, swap, or authorize commercial use of your personal information to any third party.
We may disclose your information to additional third parties in circumstances where we reasonably believe it to be necessary or appropriate, including to: respond to a governmental request; detect, prevent or otherwise address fraud, resolve security or technical issues; or safeguard the rights, property or safety of us, our users or others.
We may share information with any successor to all or part of our business. For example, if part of our business is sold we may give our customer list as part of that transaction.
We will share your data if we are required to do so by law or to protect ourselves – for example, by court order, or to prevent fraud or other crime;
We may share your information for reasons not described in this policy. We will tell you before we do this.
SEI may use your personal information for the following purposes:
You may access the information you provided at any time. If we cannot provide you with full access to your information, we will advise of what we are not granting and the reasons for limited access.
You can modify information you have given us. If we cannot make the changes you want, we will let you know and explain why.
You can opt out of receiving our marketing emails. You may unsubscribe from e-mail lists at anytime. If you choose to withdraw consent, we will advise you of the effect.
Even if you opt out of getting marketing emails, we will still be sure to send you transactional messages. For example, we may still contact you about your subscription, fees or payments.
E-mail us at [email protected] to have access to details about your personal information SEI may have. If you contact us requesting access to your information, we will respond within 30 days.
We may change this privacy policy. In that case, the ‘last updated’ date at the bottom of this page will also change. Any changes to this privacy policy will apply to you and your data immediately.
If these changes affect how your personal data is processed, Social Enterprise Institute will take reasonable steps to let you know.
